I recognize it is a classic, but this book had a 3 out of 5 impact on me
When I first read it, it struck a chord because it motivated me to have "good habits" and "good behaviors." It spoke directly to me about dreaming big and achieving success. After reading it three times, however, I noticed it relies heavily on anecdotes without solid research. It crafts a narrative that persuades you to accept its viewpoint. So, great storytelling!
For example, it suggests that walking 20 to 30% faster makes you feel more driven because walking fast implies ambition. You are in a hurry to go somewhere and achieve something. But, one can argue the opposite too. One might argue that rushing through life prevents mindfulness and limits the ability to solve complex problems.
The book emphasizes the power of belief. It argues that if you believe in your success, you'll actively work towards it, which emphasizes a positive mindset. I don't like "believe and it'll happen".
Initially, a friend recommended this book to me, suggesting it would inspire me to think big rather than small. It made me question whether I should choose a low-risk consulting business over the high-risk but potentially more rewarding path of building and launching a product. But, I don't remember the book talking about this topic.
